Originally grown in Austria, this medium bodied red has long felt very much at home in South Tyrol too. At higher, lofty altitudes, it develops a spicy and fruity nose reminiscent of plums and a powerful, cherry-red colour with lustrous violet reflections. It owes its berry-like flavours and the fine roast aromas to its storage in barriques, which lend this full-bodied palate-pleaser its velvety tannin structure and a soft, harmonious acidity.
Goes wonderfully with… the Sunday roast and generally with dark meat
